Cloud Computing
“Cloud Computing” has become a big buzz word lately with many of the biggest companies like Microsoft and Google pushing their services to it. But for many people, they have been doing a form of cloud computing for years, like their email for instance. Yahoo mail and Gmail are forms of cloud computing. In basic terms, Cloud Computing is any internet based computing where software and information are provided to computers and other devices on demand, something like a power grid.
For companies, there are advantages and disadvantages to going to the cloud.
Some of the Pro’s of Cloud computing are:
- Low upfront investment cost
- Better security than most small companies have.
- Easy access from any internet connection
- They back it up for you
- No need to upgrade server hardware in the future
- Predictable cost
Some of the Cons of Cloud Computing:
- Cost more in the long run
- You information is not in your office
- Cloud company could go out of business or accidentally delete your data
- Loss of internet could stop work
