What is BDR?

The TSC Backup & Disaster Recovery Appliance (BDR) us a network-attached storage device for Windows servers that comes preloaded with all the backup, recovery, and virtualization software needed to protect your business.  With the ability to provide near-term, near-line recovery of single file, database, or mail message, up to a full production server, in minutes:  The TSC BDR offers the following features:

Standby Server

With the BDR’s Rapid Virtualization capability, the BDR can be configured to function as a failover server in minutes.  This eliminates costly downtime due to server hardware failures.  The BDR virtualizes servers directly from the backup image so there is no need to convert backup images to virtual hard disks.

Backup & Recovery

For file and database recovery, the TSC BDR brings simplicity, speed and reliability to an often painful task.  By taking 15 minutes snapshots of each server, the BDR eliminates the time-wasting tasks of tape recovery.  Block level replication provides added protection against corrupted open files of databases.

Bare Metal Restore

Bare Metal Restore (BMR) gives you the ability to restore a virtual server or dissimilar hardware configuration for ease of recovery after a disaster; eg. Hardware failure.  This give you flexibility for restorations and doesn’t require the cost and effort of keeping a standby server ready at all times.

Email has become the lifeblood of the business world.  With the TSC BDR, perform mailbox & message restorations faster than ever.  You can keep messages flowing throughout the company.  With short recovery times and frequent recovery points, setbacks are fewer and employees are able to stay connected and productive, whether you’re facing the failure of an Exchange server or just a mistakenly deleted email.

Offsite Replication

TSC also provides features to synchronize your backups to local or network destination.  This copies your entire backup chain to redundant location for archiving and disaster recovery.  Retrieve images and restore back to the BDR if needed from archive.
